EMP Honeymoon by Dorothy May Mercer is a science-Fiction play that takes us through the journey of the newly married couple who got to celebrate their love in terror and fear rather than harmony. The book illustrates how smaller superflares at a lower range could course a serious harm to the earth.

Kelly McBride and Sgt. Tom Turbulo of the Carson City PD had just got to Honduras for their honey moon. The love birds one morning decided to part ways into exploring the Island, where Tom decided to go for some air on a dive boat while his wife was exploring the surroundings of the area. Tables turned when Kelly entered a wrong store by the name “Pociliga” hoping to find a toy to buy for her niece. Little did she know that the store was for a secret mission whereby the Folks behind it needed no intruder or anyone rather to sneak into their premises.
Kelly found herself chocked under a man’s arm and almost lost her breathe. Fortunately, she managed to escape and ran for her life. The couple decided to undergo an investigation regarding the incident, and got to find themselves in a mystery through taking down the terrorists who planned an Electromagnetic Pulse explosion which was meant to destroy the USA. Will they be able to save the country? The question rises.

This book definitely made me feel like I am in a movie theatre. The plot is thrilling with the events happening day in-day out. The author made every concept for the reader understandable, by providing necessary explanations in detail for everyone to follow through. I personally found the book drafted in a different line that I didn’t expect, it is not easy to predict the next move and that is what a good writer should pursue, to get the readers hooked and hungry for more. We mostly expect so many trials and errors, we expect the thief to always steal, destroy million lives before getting caught but Mercer came with a different approach.

The book contains slight romantic settings which are pretty much not what I expected. Its title aligns with the insight, as the Tom and Kelly have been tackling the mysterious journey together, with the help of Senator Mike Mcbride’s team of course. But, I still think that the author spent little time to explore in depth the romantic gestures to the couple. Mercer missed to creatively create a romantic plot which could have made the book more interesting; none the less with the unquestionable hype within the book I really enjoyed reading it.

I only came across few minor errors in the book which did not necessarily ruin the rhythm of its flow and intensifying nature. It is a good read which I can recommend to everyone-with no age restriction and those who enjoy military action and adventures. I give the book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars.

The sci-fi components of this book sound compelling. The title had previously made me reluctant to pick it up since I am not a fan of romance but your review has convince me otherwise. Thank you for the great review. Well done

I enjoyed this book. There was just enough action, with a hint of romance. Great review thank you.

As you mentioned, this plot feels like a movie; while the characters were unaware of the danger that was approaching them and they take part in a serious mission to save the world. Many people will enjoy the combination of romance and science fiction. Interesting plot.

Well, romance always comes in to spice up every genre if it is brought up. It was quite a book.
