Excellent review.

Yes, I agree with you that love, friendship, and family values at a young age have their own growing up wonders. And friendship struck at a young age does marvels too.

I live for baseball. There are not many books about baseball and that saddens me. I am grateful to Lara Reznik for writing this historical fiction interesting novel that is based all about baseball.

I’m not a big fan of baseball, mostly just a casual fan, but it’s still interesting that the author merged the sport with a plot about a kid from a troubled home. I’m especially intrigued by the idea of two sports stars, supposedly rivals, moving to the same town to hide from bad press. It’s certainly something that would be even harder nowadays. Thank you for the helpful review.

Thank you for the great review. I remember watching baseball in the late 60s and 70s and recognize the names in this book. Great character development is also a great selling point for me. After reading your review, I believe I will add this to my list of books to read at sometime.

Having grown up during this era I was immediately drawn to this book titled the M&M Boys. I never liked the Yankees growing up in Chicago but I really enjoyed this competition and I did root for Mantle to win. I believe Maris was treated very unfairly by fans across the country, especially in New York. This is a fictional story based on true-life events. The story revolves around 11-year-old Marshall Elliot that had a father that criticized him and abused his mother. Maris and Mantle secretly moved into the neighborhood to avoid all of the negative press. They lived next door to Marshall who was tasked with protecting their secret. Having read Mickey Mantle's biography as a child I am now motivated to read this book. Very good review.

A fiction story of unlikely friendships, which includes true-life events, based in the 1960s. I like the baseball theme too and Rodgers seems like an interesting character. Congratulations on the botd.

I'm not really a fan of baseball but this book has a unique and interesting storyline. The characters are good, unique and well developed. Well done.

Marshall could have suffered emotionally because his father gave him conditional love but having friends reduced the burden and load of depression. This is an exciting and heartwarming read, thanks for the review.

Looking at the name of the book, I definitely had a different concept in mind but then looking at the cover of the book, gives an idea of what the book is about. This is an interesting book with great character development and a bit of romance incorporated into it. I enjoyed reading this.

Marshall encountered a couple of things from his father, and I'd like to know how the story ended because what his father did has multiple adverse effects. I love the friendship within the book. Thanks for your honest review.

This sounded like an excellent storyline. Sad that the mix-up cost it a star. Thank you for the descriptive review.

I've always loved stories about baseball although I was never brought up with this sport as I'm not an American. I'm not always fond of historical fiction, however with the combination of these two, I think it's going to be quite a read. Thanks for a great review.
