How did a mission which started as a quest for fun, happiness, and fulfillment turn out to be a quest to escape reality, sadness, frustration, and depression?

Man Mission by Eytan Uliel is a story that speaks on the experiences of four men as they embark on an epic journey for fifteen years. The book, written from the narrator's point of view, reports the pleasures and ordeals of these four friends as they grow through different phases of life, gain insight about themselves, and explore various areas of the world in their search for fun and fulfillment. On their quest, they experience new beliefs and diverse cultures, enjoy new food, and experience the joy and pain that comes with their adventure. As the story progresses, they build relationships, start families, and establish their careers until life challenges arise. Disappointment, infidelity, divorce, and other vicissitudes of life begin to turn a quest for fun into one of survival and escape from reality.

I'll first appreciate the author for his idea of sharing his experiences on these adventures. Though I have not been able to travel to most of the countries the four friends visited, I was able to get a glimpse of their culture, food, and way of life. I commend the author for giving a picturesque description of those countries, as this enables a reader to feel like the fifth person on the mission. Also, the author did an excellent job in his stepwise presentation of the characters as the story progresses.

I'll say that this book extends beyond traveling or tourism. I was able to take a look into the issues of infidelity, divorce, career dissatisfaction, and the pressure of dealing with adulthood.

I don't have any negative comments about this book. The narrator gave detailed documentation of the places they visited. Also, at the beginning of every chapter, there are quotes supported by Bible verses, and at the end of every chapter are short reports of their experiences. These help in making the story more relatable.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It was exceptionally well-edited, as I could not find any error in the book. It was indeed a job well done.

It is to be noted that there is high use of profane words in this novel. I recommend this book to mature readers and adventure seekers. I'm sure you won't regret picking this up to read.

My favourite kinds of stories include those based on exciting adventures. The book was enjoyable to read for me. In addition to the exciting experiences described in the book, there are also valuable life lessons contained within it. Additionally, the summary was quite good.
