The statement in your review that this book is a true story amazed me. I love real life stories and even I thought about writing a real life story as well. No matter if something seems a bit off, but as long as it remains real and not imaginative, the book stays awesome. Definitely, I'll read it when I'll find some time.

"A family of seven is planning to move from Puerto Rico to the United States. Moving is apparently the best option for the family, but sometimes things are not what they seem, and tragedy might break a family apart."

This book is based on a true story, it is filled with happy and heartbreaking moments. It's an interesting story.

Wow! This seems like an inspirational story full of heartbreak. I liked the description and it surprised me that it is based on the author's mother's life story. I want to know what Gregory did that affected his family so much, so I'll be checking out this book when I get the time.

Will Maria successfully reunite her family? Living with foster parents is normally a tough thing to cope with especially if they are abusive. I can't wait to read Beyond the Clouds, the Sky is Blue by Dennis Santos and find out what happened to Maria and her family. Congratulations on the BOTD.

The book seems interesting and sweet and heartwarming. The topic of forgiveness that is being portrayed through the whole book is really good as it is one of the main things (in my opinion) that we need nowadays and that is so difficult to give. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

It is incredibly sad that people who are just looking to build a better life for themselves and their families have to go through such hardships. But I commend you for your sensitive, spoiler-free review.

Does this story follow Maria/Mary into the future since she was born in the 90s and it narrative follows her into old age? This sounds like an interesting story and the review helped me understand the premise of the story more than the title or book cover did.

I read a few pages and it had multiple errors already. Other than that I liked the writing of it. I do like storylines like this where people come from a bad place and ends up in forgiveness and heartfelt as the reviewer mentioned. Great review!

It must have been devastating for the Ortiz family to have their dream of a better life together destroyed. Thank you for your review.

I felt the pain and agony of the Ortiz family, reading this book and it made me emotional. That is to say that the author did a phenomenal job of capturing the emotions and essence of the characters. This book contains so many life lessons. Despite the hardships the family suffered, there was always love and togetherness, up until the death of Felicia. This left an aging father with difficult choices to make. I am not sure if I would be able to finish this book as it's a heavy, emotional read. Kudos to the author on a job well done and congrats for making it to book of the day.

Of course as long as pain still exists, forgiveness is still verbal. I didn't like Gregory's attitude towards his children. Perhaps I will change my mind after reading. A good review!

I really liked this book. The scattering of family members is followed by their reunion. The second theme is forgiveness. My favorite character is Maria, who was later renamed Mary. Despite the difficulties, she finds it easy to let go. What I didn't like about the book was Gregory's deaf ears towards his family. He was supposed to listen to his family and not rebel. Men should occasionally listen to their wives and children.
