I don't think it is fair that kids are forced to go to war they did not ask for. Let only those who want war go to war.

I do not appreciate the idea. I wouldn't want my innocent brother or friend to be drafted against their will.

I think this is why we should avoid wars because children do not deserve to suffer under war. Children deserve to run outside and learn freely, not be drafted in the military in order to kill only to be killed.

Kids should never be sent to war against their will, as kids are supposed to be learning and developing, and sending them to war against their will and without proper training can never be justified as logical.

It is not right to draft kids for war. There is no justification for it. I would end it if I had the power, and of course I would do everything possible to prevent a war event in the first place.

I think that the military should not recruit people until they are at least 21 years old. Even though 17 year olds require parental consent, I feel that is way too young to face the situations that arise in the military. They still have so much growing and developing to get through first.

Lindzy Herbrand wrote: 03 Aug 2022, 13:10 Whenever I read historical fiction or non-fiction pertaining to war, like with Wild World, I am relieved that in the U.S. there is no longer a mandatory draft. I don’t think it’s right for any age or country to force their citizens to fight without choice. As such my thoughts are that children should absolutely be exempt from drafts, and only those of legal consenting adult age should be allowed to participate.
We do not currently have a draft; however, men over 18 and up to 26 must still register for the selective service. This would be used to draft people if a war was entered and there were not enough volunteers. There are significant penalties if someone would fail to register. As of right now, it is still only men, but there is a bill in process to add women to the selective service list since the law was changed in 2016 to allow women to serve in ALL military capacities. The draft is still very much a possibility.

They lack background. Sending them to combat is merely a death sentence. If I had the ability, I would surely stop it.

If I had the power, I would absolutely stop drafting kids for war. I don't think anyone should be forced to fight in a war. It should be a choice, and only an option for adults.

I believe that this choice is the wrong one to make. It is natural for children to continue growing up until they have achieved a level of self-awareness. They will likely perish if they are forced to fight in the conflict. If I am in a position to do so, I shall see it as my obligation to put a stop to it.

I understand the need to draft kids into a war. If a country is attacked by a hostile neighbour, and said country does not have the adult manpower to defend itself from the attackers, kids who can hold a weapon are drafted to help support and defend the country. This is not right, but it is understandable.

I don't think they are experienced enough. If the argument is that you need all hands on deck, you wouldn't even have theirs cause they'll most likely die before they can be utilitarian. If they survive it, you'll be scarring them emotionally for life. They can't handle it. If I had the power, it'll be nonexistent

If I could, I would stop this madness of drafting kids for war. The mess we are in is not their fault. We should not drag them into it.

The sad thing about the situation is that more often than not, these kids are clueless about the cause, effects, politics and dynamics of a war. They are being drafted to fight out of desperation and many die without grasping what it is they were truly fighting for. The irony is that those who start a war never see a day in battle and instead, it is the innocents who are crucified in the name of country. I believe being drafted for a war should be a matter of choice. Too many young men leave families behind who they will never see again all for a cause that they do necessarily support.
