The love of motherhood is something that keeps declining as the day goes by. Women today would rather be career-driven than have a family. In an attempt to correct the disease that some schools of thought have instilled in society. A Long Ago Place is a book written to share the joy of motherhood with children who are still growing up.

Donna Betten uses this book to tell growing girls that they can have a family and still have an awesome career. The nameless protagonist of this book recalls what she thought of motherhood as a child while sitting under a tree and listening to pigeons, just like the book illustrated. She worked as a secretary and had imaginary children, namely: Porky, Jemoo, Serena, Lindy Loo, Semolina, Wendy, Suzanna, Pinky, and the one-eyed teddy, Teddy. She didn't neglect her job as a mom. Whenever she came back from work, she would do the needful for her children.

Donna took me back to my childhood days. I'd vividly remember how I fantasized about being a father. I remember taking on the role of a father whenever we played house. Children these days are careless about the little thing that matters. Although the pictures weren't bright, I still think they made the book look more original.

I don't think that it is possible to read this book without having nostalgia. Memories give you a certain type of euphoria. The book was brief, as any children's book should be. I would advise parents to take this book and often read it to their children. I believe it is appropriate to give this imaginative read a 4 out of 4 rating.

This book isn't just for children. I think adults would like it because of the memories it would give them. I can boldly say that the book was exceptionally edited. Recommending it only to children would limit its audience. I would also recommend it to people who love to read books that give nostalgia.
