While I enjoy reading stories that involve the character development of the protagonist, I did not find anything unique in the plot of this story that would make me want to read the entire book. Hence, I'll have to pass on this one. But congratulations on being listed as Book Of The Day.

Natalie could be a good fictional character to be an inspiration for young adults facing difficulties and adversities that mainly stems from an abusive parent (whether its a biological or a step-parent). I'm sure many can relate and get strength from Natalie. Congratulations to the author for BOTD!

The plot of the book, whose main driver is the alcoholic patriarch of an Australian family, seems authentic. The character of Natalie is interesting because the girl is described as brave, full of spirit, and lively.

Great review, with pertinent observations about the style of narration. I have only read the first chapters and liked them, but if the novel goes on without a climax, it is not for me. Interesting setting and unusual characters, indeed.

I love family drama in fiction, and this book seems to have an exquisite amount of realism, but a complete lack of action and suspense sounds painfully dull. You identified a very critical fault. Thank you for the insightful review.

So from the review I gathered that it has no genre that I love. Historicals are not I particularly enjoy. Too many POVs, no suspense and a bland plotline. Sorry not my forte. I am giving it a pass. Congrats on BOTD.

It is impressive that a fictional story can be portrayed so realistically. I appreciate good character development, and Natalie sounds like a strong young woman. It's also great to see Ironbark Hill as a saga. Thank you for the thorough review!

I'm rooting for Natalie, however, my time is too precious to spend on a bland book with no suspense. Appreciate the review.

This was a well-written and properly analysed review. Although this book had a very dull book cover, it had an interesting storyline. I would love to know more about the personalities of Natalie's family. Congrats on BOTD.

I like that the author was able to compile her books into one bigger book. Unfortunately, the books weren’t my genre, so I won’t be reading, but this is a great opportunity to collect these books if you’re a fan!

Natalie sounds like a strong female protagonist. The challenges faced by her family is realistic. With all these struggles to contend with, this plot should have made an charming story.

Unfortunately, the book way to close resembles reality and relates to all negative sides of so called "low-class rustic" background. A bit stereotypical, in my opinion, and while I quite admire the people who are able to overcome obstacles and rise above such circumstances, I certainly have no wish to spend my meager free time reading about it. Apologies and congrats on BOTD!

Isn't this book an example of literary fiction? You could've told us about the author's writing style

This appears to be an interesting book covering the story of a lower middle class family. The review is well made. Thanks for the honest review.

I love fictions and I'm rooting for Natalie. However, I'm not sure if this book will be good fit for me because I'm not really intrigued by the storyline.
