Based on your comprehensive summary, I would like to read about Francesca's courage, resilience, and love during the turbulent time of World War II in Rome. Thank you for the outstanding book review that has emboldened me to add it to my shelf.

Nice review, I must say. And I checked out a few pages of the book. It's not for me, but I'm confident that the author will find an appreciative reading audience. Congrats on BOTD.

The inclusion of lovers in a war story emphasis on how the events unfolds with regards to their characters. This makes the story interesting and full of suspends.Quite an interesting novel for readers and lovers of war stories. Though it seems the story was for a small period of time ,

I will definitely be reading this book based on your fabulous review, thank you. I love history but find it difficult to get all the facts and figures straight in my head, fiction books with lots of factual information is so much easy to learn from.

This is an impressive historical drama that includes a moving peek at the aftermaths of World War II and what it means to strive for a better world but tempers intense emotionalism with sensitive romance elements.

This historical fiction novel has a great balance between using real life events and fiction. I especially appreciate the impeccable storytelling since it's hard to gauge what will happen next. It contains war stories that are very realistic but also a joy to read. Congrats on the BOTD!

An interesting fiction novel "Shadow Song" by Anita Morrish, which is based on events in and around Rome from July 1943 to June 1944. Nice insight about Rome during second world war. I want to read this book.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

I only had read one book about Rome during the 1940s, and I still have not finished it until now. So I am a little shaky about whether I would give this a try or not, but if I do want to read more about it, I would definitely go to this book.

Thank you so much for the review!

The fact that you had to browse about the events that took place between Germany and Italy during that period – to differentiate the real and fictitious parts of this novel – indicates all I need to know to make me read it: that Morrish writes skilfully.

Another thing I like about this publication is the way the author makes readers fall in love and root for several characters. I knew what the outcome of the war was going to be, but I didn’t know if my favorite characters would make it to the end, and that kept me on the edge of my seat, hoping for the best. I also like that the author didn’t try to force the story into a happy ending for any character. Anybody could have been caught by the Germans, and anybody could have been killed. Readers are going to be shocked by some of the happenings in the read. I would stop there because I don’t want to provide any spoilers.

You are completely right. I never had thought about it but we actually know the outcome of most historic novels. What we don't know is what happens to the fictional characters, in which case character development is especially important for this genre. What an interesting reflection!

I like that in the midst of the whirlwind of war, there was also room for a love story between Giorgio and Francesca. The character of Carlo, an army doctor, is a very interestingly thought-out. I like that the book is full of twists and turns.

I love an unpredictable story, but at the same time, I hate it when I lose a character I have already come to love. Thank you for this candid review though.

It's amazing how some authors craft their works of fiction and make them look like real events. Am glad this piece of writing is one of such kind. This looks to be one of such great reads. Thanks for this interesting-to-read review.

Historical fiction is a wonderful genre, and one that takes an extra level of diligence and dedication of craft to write. I’m very excited to finish reading this book now.
