I love war stories, fiction or truth. It's where an author gets a chance to really take us back in time and live in the moment, where the story's emotion captivates and holds you to the end. I love reading and feel the reviewer did a good job! :techie-studyingbrown:

Thanks for your enlightening review. What a truly horrifying thought it is to know that the freedom you once enjoyed can be taken away from you, that one day, you can move freely about your hometown and the next, you're fighting to liberate your hometown and country. The author does a superb job of capturing both the fears and the bravery of the characters. Francesca seems like a formidable force to be reckoned with and I yearn to know how this story unfolds and ends. Congrats to the author for a gripping piece and for making it to today's BOTD.

I actually finished a book about war and history, and I can't wait to try this one. I am looking forward to grasp the events in this book and see if Francesca got home with his brother. Thanks for your review.

Historical fiction and war books are not my styles, but books with great characters that one can easily get attached to and root for sounds like a good read to me. This one seems intense and gripping, so I'm willing to try it.

Francesca seems to be a very interesting character and I’m looking forward to digging into this novel to be with her journey as she faced difficult challenges amid the war between Rome and Germany. How will her life be affected by Carlo and will she see her brother again? A nice story in a very depressing and fearsome environment.

There is so much going on in the first few chapters of this book that even the scene setting is fast-paced. From reactions of Mussolini’s arrest to the speculation that the Germans will invade Rome. This also creates a lot of empathy for the characters straightaway.

Today's book the day dwell on the occupation of Rome by the German army. I like that the author made the story sound so real even though it was fictionalized. That's a unique quality, not every author possesses. Congrats on being the #BOTD!

This novel would be excellent for any reader who loves books about World War II. I don't associate romance with wars, but this seems to work for this book. The family relationship present in the beginning of the book will make for a good story. Thanks for the review!

I have no much knowledge about WWII, so it definitely not easy for me to divide the real and fictional events in this book. I'm not a fan of war novel, but the love journey between characters during that time is so interesting. Great review!
