The author's writing gives this book a superb blend of reality and fiction. Stories around war have characters with so much hope and determination to their cause. Francesca and Carlo each have a significant role to play. How it all pans out is worth the read. Thank you for the captivating review.

This book has a lot of war scenes and it depicts political and geographical unrest. Alas, I’m not a war fan and that makes this read unsuitable for me. Kudos

I've developed feelings for the characters in this book, particularly Carlo. Another aspect of this book that appeals to me is the author's ability to weave plausible fiction into real historical events. I think it'll be a good read, and I'm looking forward to it.

I do love historical fictions. And this seems like an intriguing and intense one. Though I have read many books based on WW II period, the setting of Rome is a novelty for me. I would love to read the book. Congrats on BOTD!!

The plot is a bit complex for me but I think i love the love story when Francesca falls in love with the soldier. It is a relationship that seems to face a lot of challenges in the future. A book with many themes as this interests me. I will be glad to read it. Congratulations on BOTD.

Weaving a family drama into historical fiction is amazing. We get to follow the dilemma of a family while waiting to see the outcome of the German-Roman war.

The author's ability to smoothly meld genuine and made-up events is impressive. I also appreciate that, as is actually the case with war, there is no assurance of a happy conclusion. This historical fiction book does an excellent job of balancing the use of fiction and reality. I particularly value the superb storytelling because it's challenging to predict what will happen next. It has incredibly realistic battle stories that are also enjoyable to read. Congrats on botd!

I could relate well with the reviewer's description of the plot. It sounds engaging and caried along in the word of the characters. I loved that the author wrote fictitious events to seem like real-life events; It consolidates its originality.

War stories are always sad stories. World War II created unnecessary hardship for Francesca and her family. Was she able to save her brother, Roberto? Would her friendship with Carlos makes any difference? This story is gripping and intense. Hopefully the family is reunited at the end. Thanks for the review.

This book sounds like a shoe-in for fans of historical novels set during the War with the Nazi's. I'm not a big fan of that era, for obvious reasons, so I probably won't read the whole book, but it's great that the characters like Carlo work together with others to free Rome. Freedom is an international wish for many , and one that all readers can identify with. Great review!
