Review of Facebook Nation (3rd Edition)
Facebook Nation (3rd Edition) by Newton Lee is a book about the author's stance on information awareness. The book explores information awareness, cybersecurity, the reality of privacy on the internet (especially social media), and much more.
Although I did not completely agree with most of the writer's ideologies in the book, I could appreciate that the book had an informative tone. I also liked that the writer did his best to make sure that the information in this book was credible. Be it from his personal experience or other sources; sufficient evidence is always provided regarding the authenticity of his claims. He also does well to ensure that the evidence mentioned is verifiable. Thus, the book is rich in references. This makes it evident that the book was very well-researched.
Another thing that I liked about the book was that it was impeccably well written. I did not find a single error in this book, and that was something that I could appreciate. It was also very well edited.
The first thing that I did not like about the book was the fact that I found it to be terribly dull and a bit of a chore to read. As a reader who is not a citizen of the United States of America and is not particularly interested in learning about the US or US history, I found the fact that most of the information in the book focused on the US a bit off-putting.
Also, I wouldn't say I liked that the book contained many computer-based technological terms, which were almost impossible to understand for a reader without prior knowledge about computers or cybersecurity.
I would rate this book a 2 out of 4 stars. This is because I wouldn't say that I liked the book. I also found the book to be boring. Regardless, I found it to be exceptionally well edited.
I would recommend this book to readers who are either from the US or are interested in learning about US history. I would also recommend this book to readers that are interested in cybersecurity. I would not recommend this book to younger readers as it is not the easiest to understand. I would also recommend this book to readers with interest in information studies. I would not recommend this book to readers who are not citizens of the United States or are interested in the history of the United States. This is because a lot of facts and information in the book primarily concern the United States.
