E M P Honeymoon by Dorothy May Mercer is a C/T/M/H genre novel. This is the thirteenth book of the McBride series. It is 252 pages long and is told from the third-person perspective. I had previously read Cynthia and Dan book of this series, but it was a big letdown. I wished to give this series another shot. Hence, I selected this book, and it turned out way better than I thought.

Kelly and Tom are having an eventful honeymoon in Honduras, which comprises traveling, sunbathing on beaches, and fighting terrorists. One day while sightseeing, Kelly stumbled across a toyshop. The toyshop turned out to be a fake front for a mysterious lab equipped with computers and a big screen displaying a map of the United States and Canada with flickering colored lights. Kelly wanted to find out more, but before she could do so, a hand caught her.

What would you do if you accidentally discovered terrorist activity taking place in an inconspicuous shop? Read this book to find out what Kelly did upon finding herself in a similar situation.

The first thing which I, as a reader, was really curious about was the title of the book. What does EMP stand for? It stands for an electromagnetic pulse.

Dorothy has written this book with a “what-if” plot, which was wonderful to read about. It would be a big deal if anything happens to electricity, as most of the world runs on it. In this story, the very electricity is under threat from terrorists. How so? Read the book to find out. I commend the author for this thoughtful and well-laid plot.

Tom and Kelly, Aggie, Sharon, and Steve come together and plan to intercept the dangerous terrorists’ activity. They form a five-member team called Team USA. I enjoyed reading their brief communications and jokes. General Lee was a sharp character, as he knew what to do to keep safe from Dear Leader. The role of Lieutenant Rhee Su-jin did not have room for development and growth, but it did not affect the story much.

I really enjoyed reading the interview with Dr. Peter Kinney, where he explained about solar flares and EMP. It was the best part for me, as he easily explained a complex concept using simple terms.

I rate E M P Honeymoon four out of four stars. I really loved this book. There was nothing I disliked about the novel. A professional skillfully edited it, as I did not notice any grammatical or typographical errors in the book. I will recommend it to fans of fast-paced action thriller story. Also, if you need a light read or a feel-good book, then this one will work nicely.

I am glad you were rewarded with an enjoyable reading experience this time. I too was hesitant to read another installment after Cynthia and Dan and have not been inclined to add this book to my reading list.

This book is my next stop in Dorothy May Mercer's book having read Cynthia and Dan. Though I have been eyeing it, reading your review now would make me wait no longer. Great review!

Truly, it is difficult to expect better content after a not-so-great reading experience.

I was also curious about the meaning of EMP when I saw the title but thanks for telling us the meaning in your review. Kelly and Tom's relationship must be so inventful

I read Cynthia And Dan and this is supposed to be a sequel. From what your review says, it doesn't sound like a sequel but I wonder if future work will tie into together. I have been debating on reading this one but it sounds like a great story. Great review!

Cynthia and Dan can be read as a stand alone. And this one, too. I'll say, if you think you should then you should read it. Thank you for reading and commenting!
