Five-year-old Donny Miller and his Ten-year-old sister Mary Grace Miller enjoyed the summer with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Miller. They spent their summer going to the zoo to see the animals, having a picnic in the park. Swimming in the swimming pool to ease their body of the scorching summer sun, and going to the stores for back-to-school shopping. Donny and Mary Grace's parents had their respective jobs. Mr. Miller is a priest at St. James Episcopal Church, and Mrs. Miller is a civil engineer who works from home during summer breaks.

One day, after Mary Grace had finished swimming at her friend; Stacy's house, Mary Grace noticed a sad expression playing on her parents' faces. She pondered within herself what was wrong. Mr & Mrs Miller asked their daughter to bring Donny into the kitchen so they could all have a talk. Mr & Mrs. Miller informed their kids that they would be going away to Kenya for two years on a missionary journey, and Donny and Mary Grace would have to stay with their grandparents in California. Will the kids be willing to adjust to this new change? What awaits Donny and Mary Grace in California? Read Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures by Catherine A. Pepe to learn more.

The characters involved in this book are all admirable, but I can only have one favorite, which is Mary Grace Miller. I love how she prioritizes her little brother Donny. She never limits him to the things he can do because of his down syndrome. She encourages him to do the things he loves. However, Donny's character felt the most real. It depicts the innocence of a child as he navigates and explores the world.

Most of the scenes were quite relatable. The reaction of Mary Grace when her parents broke the big news to her was really expected. I love her emphasis on how absurd her parents' decision is regarding their current situation. This book is packed with morals that young readers can emulate.

There wasn't a thing I hated about this book. Everything was to my liking including their adventures.

This book was void of grammatical and typographical errors; it was professionally edited. Thus I rate Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures 4 out of 4 stars.

I recommend this book to young readers and adventure enthusiasts within the age bracket of 5 to 12 because of the morals and attributes in this book.

I have sampled this book recently, and I also found this book amazing. It shares a lot of lessons that not only children would relate to. Thank you for your beautiful review.

This is a children's novel that talks about family love and union. I believe every kid would find this book useful enough. Nice review though.

I'm yet to read this but I would love to know how Mary Grace and her brother, Donny cope in California. I think Mary Grace's character would easily be my favourite. Nicely written.

Most children's books are interesting and it seems that Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures isn't different. How would they cope with their parents going away? Great review

Mary Grace Miller is truly commendable and that's how most big sisters are, always watching out for their younger ones and she seems very smart too. Great review

I just hope these children cope in California. And why would their parents want to leave their kids for 2 years? They should have taken them to Kenya too

Having read this book, Mary Grace was also my favorite character. Apart from prioritizing her love for Donny, she also acted maturely in various complex situations she found herself. Nice review.
