Try Possession by A.S Byatt written 1991 I'm currently reading it and finding it a very cleverly written romantic story.

I tried Possession, bobblington, but I didn't care for it - I didn't finish. It was difficult reading for me; I progressed slowly. On the upside, the characters were very realistic. I will save you from the rest of my thoughts.

it's a romantic farce.

considered fantasy /fiction but the humor will poke you in the side more than you are prepared to be tickled.
