Official Review: Restoration by Elaine D Walsh

[Following is the official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Restoration" by Elaine D Walsh.]

This is a women's fiction book by Elaine D Walsh, with a publishing date of September 18th, 2013. It will be published by Barks Out Loud.

Restoration is a gem in book form. It is a story of the journey of self redemption. Tess Olsen had what she thought was the perfect family: a doctor for a father, an indulging mother, two loving siblings. Until Randal Wright appeared. An inmate currently on death row in Florida, who got to know Tess's mother. Alish left her whole family to devote to him, and that devastated her.

Years later, Tess still lives afraid of Randal Wright. She refuses herself the pleasures of friendship, intimacy and, most importantly, love. After different moves, she is currently settled in New York, restoring antique paintings, but neverher love for painting. And, finally, after years of cowering behind walls, Randal Wright's death warrant is signed for good. She can start to live her life.

Ben, the art critic for The New York Times, gets to know Tess, but starts to open Panfora's box of fears. He delves deep into her soul, past the carefully placed walls she placed in her soul, and tries to find love. Can she love, or did Randal Wright ruin that too? Can she be restored from that empty sel she has made for herself?

Francesca and Sharon are Tess's coworkers in mMazzaro Brothers, the restoration firm known internationally. After getting
to know Ben, she started to get an itching for friends. How will she manage to earn her trust and friendship?

My rating for this story is 4 out of 4 stars. It was an excellent read, and i encourage everyone to read it, also.

This was a compelling read, from the first paragraph, right until the ending. The characters are really deep and complex, each one capable of grabbing your attention for hours. You feel Tess's pain, feel her frustrations, and start to become happy with her. I got angry for the bad choices made by her, and furious for the worse ones. It made me try to be emphatic; to tolerate a different life because of different upbringing and outlooks on life.

I highly recommend this book to any person, especially if they are going through a rough patch, struggling with self forgiveness. It is a long, exhausting process that can be made easier by looking at another person's.
