Planning for one’s elder years is getting more and more important with each passing decade as life expectancy in the United States of America is on the rise. Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer contains a plethora of information about planning for retirement and ensuring that one has enough money set aside for their future.

As technology and an improvement in conditions have helped people to have longer lives, it is of the utmost importance to ensure that these extra years are a blessing that can be cherished by being fully prepared. E. Alan Fleischauer has been a financial advisor for more than 20 years, thus giving him expert knowledge and deep insight into the various financial tools that can be used to maximize one's future. The book details how the reader can use retirement plans, insurance policies, investments, and budgeting to extend their money beyond retirement.

I enjoyed the style of writing that the author used. Often, financial books can feel like a collection of information that quickly overwhelms the reader. However, Reconfigurement is light and easy to read as E. Alan Fleischauer uses a mix of humor and a simple way of explaining concepts that make the book enjoyable.

The book was written with a great deal of expertise and detail owing to the author’s experience in the industry. He explained each method that he was suggesting to the reader in a thorough and insightful manner. His tips and favored methods are practical, easy to use, and adjusted to be applicable in the current economic state of the world. The author does an excellent job of explaining the impact that each strategy would have on the current and future financial life of the reader.

A negative aspect of the book is very much focused on the American individual and perspective so international readers will have to keep that in mind. Some of the financial instruments that are referenced may not be available, such as the 401(k), or contain some changes in other countries. Further research will have to be conducted by readers who chose to implement some of his techniques and speaking to a financial adviser will still be recommended to ensure that the plan is a fit for the reader.

The book was professionally edited, expertly written, researched, and contained valuable information that could improve the lives of many individuals. Thus, I give Reconfigurement a rating of 4 out of 4 stars.

I would recommend this book to young adults and adults. The earlier one reads this book, the better and easier they can create and build a financial life that will sustain them all of their lives. However, it is never too late to read as the book offers adults great tips on how to adjust their financial situation to make the most of their retirement.
