Review of The Iceberg and the Penguin
In the sea of Antarctica, Little Iceberg was born. The Little Iceberg was part of a glacier before it was born too early. Penguins made their home by the glacier, and a pair of penguins made their home in the holes on Little Iceberg. Little Iceberg was happy because it was home to these penguins. It had never been a home before. The mother penguin laid an egg, and they watched it hatch and grow. The Little Iceberg was very happy. It became friends with the baby penguin. Everything was fine until Little Iceberg felt a gigantic pull that sent it off into the sea with the baby penguin. What will happen to Little Iceberg and the baby penguin?
The author's writing style was simple and precise. The story flowed perfectly and was very enjoyable. This book contained so many lessons. True friendship is one of the many moral lessons in this book. The penguin remained a true friend and showed his love for Little Iceberg even till the end. It never allowed itself to be separated from its friend. This book also gives a little insight into the effects of global warming and how it can cause some animals to lose their homes.
The only minor problems that I had with this book were that it seemed not to be properly arranged and I found a few errors. Aside from these, I totally had a great time reading this book, and every child will definitely love to read it too.
I rate The Iceberg and the Penguin by Anne Spielberg 4 out of 4 stars. I will not take a star off of this book because of the errors and the minor editing problems I found. I feel that this book can be worked on properly before being put out on the market. It was professionally edited.
I recommend this book to children between the ages of 8 and 12. This book will teach them the value of being a true friend, even till the end. This book is not only limited to children, as adults can also enjoy it because of the superb storyline.
