Well, whenever I get an idea I write it down in my journal. Even if you think you'll remember everything you come up with, write it down anyway, because it may be a while before you remember to get to it. Write *anything* down that strikes your interest even. You never know when something will strike you, but don't try to force ideas. Just let them come. That's about the best advice I can offer.

write about a chicken named fred that saves the world from the apocalypse...

haha not really, but you could look at your life experiences. have you done anything that you think is remarkable? or do you and your friends have crazy adventures? (my friend is currently writing one about her friends and the stuff they do. its really funny)

you can also jot down dreams that you've had if you want a more "fictiony" feel. it works... sometimes.

there are stories around you, where ever you go. everyone has different view points about some issue. maybe you want to write from the view of someone who would be unlikely to stand for a certain issue, like a pregnant woman who is for abortion... i don't know, but whatever you do find, i hope i works out for you ^_^

Sometimes I get my idea from my dreams that's why I have a pen and paper ready on my side table

I think the best idea is your experience.

The irony of asking for original ideas off others seems quite entertaining to me...

A novel-length work takes a plethora of ideas and the craft to weave them together. You can do it, but I generally recommend starting with short stories first. If you've already gone that route, that's wonderful, but I suspect, because you're looking for ideas, you haven't. Write something small. Sees how ideas fit together and stories are made. Try, even, to get it published. Then do it again. I really would save the novel for when the ideas come.

You should wait until a muse or inspiration visits you.

Consistent journaling is a good idea to get the juices flowing.

How about this:

A person who sees dreams that come true and finds those people that he saw to tell them the dream for their good...

Hi, Clarinetgirl: Keep a small notebook with you whereever you go and be observant of what's going on around you. You may see something that may trigger a thought that becomes the seed of a story (like gee that poor little poodle's feet look like they hurt walking on concrete, what's it like to be a poodle). Or go on a walkabout in your mind. Jot down ideas as they come to you in your notebook. don't analyze, just let them flow and one of them will end up being the the story you'd like to tell.
