In the Year of the Rabbit by Terence A. Harkin is a historical fiction book centered on Brendan Leary, a unique soldier who questions the occurrences of wars. Congrats on BOTD.

Still wondering why the cameraman is the protagonist. I find the book's title appealing. Thanks for an honest review. Congratulations to the author on winning BOTD.

I agree; it would be hard to be politically correct when there is a war going on. Since it is historical fiction, I am gonna pass, but thanks for the review!

The character arc certainly is interesting. I can only imagine how a series of traumatic experiences caused the protagonist to change the course of his life. Thanks for the awesome review!

Just from the title, you wouldn't think of this book as historical fiction about the Vietnam War. The author's vivid portrayal and personal account are a stark reminder of what war can do to a person's psyche.

Although I have read several books whose plots are inspired by the Vietnam War, this one proposes a totally different approach with a greater interest in the character's psychology; the protagonist's decision to become a monk is an unexpected twist. I definitely want to know more about this story so it's on my to-read list.

War and redemption are my types of genre in books. I am interested in what lead the soldier to become a monk in the first place. I look forward to reading this book. Thanks for the review and congratulations to the author for the BOTD!

I too went straight to Chinese culture as soon as I saw the title. As for the book being physiologically deep as the reviewer suggests, I guess I'll have to hold off on judgement until I read the book myself. Very insightful though. Kudos.

I'm not interested in books about wars but those who would want to read about Vietnam War and how it changed an American who eventually became a monk should pick this well-written book.

A lot of books have already been written about the Vietnam War. However, In the Year of the Rabbit" by Terence A. Harkin seems to inject a unique touch to this story by also exploring the psychological struggle of the protagonist and soldier, Brendan Leary, through whom we see the realities of loss, disillusionment, and destruction. It is an added advantage that this book is exceptionally well-edited. I only wish the profane words noted in this review are not too strong.
