Review of Reconfigurement
Is retirement something you look forward to, or does it scare you? Does the uncertainty of what awaits you fear you? Will it be a dead end, or will there be endless possibilities that follow?
Fear not because Reconfigurement: Reconfiguring Your Life at Any Stage and Planning Ahead by E. Alan Fleischauer will be a solution to all the retirement worries you have and ensure a smooth retirement process. Alan emphasizes the importance of planning ahead of time rather than waiting until we are old and close to retirement age. Alan is a financial and retirement planner, so this book is a definite help to all those struggling with financial issues.
Though there were many chapters (13), the ones that contained information about budgeting and career advice were the ones I found most intriguing and helpful, as people of all ages need help in such areas. The parameters that must be considered when drawing one were explained in detail, and how one must spend according to the budget also helps bring a more prospective outlook on the future. The addition of all medical insurance coverage plans, together with the benefits and drawbacks of each, opened our eyes to all the potential outcomes in the event of an emergency.
I liked the tone the author used throughout the book, it was more of a suggestive, conversing tone than just stating facts. Reconfigurement interacts with the reader at a much greater level than most books, and with the scattering of charts and graphs, Alan does an excellent job at explaining every aspect and the importance of organizing everything beforehand. The jokes added a sense of informality and helped lighten the mood of what was being discussed without overloading the reader.
There wasn’t much I disliked about the book besides the beginning being slightly boring and too informative, but the jokes added a bit of spice to it. However, I also felt the jokes were overused, and they kind of deviated the focus of the reader, but it was counterbalanced by the accounts of problems people went through.
I barely found any errors, and everything was detailed properly with thorough research into the topic given Alan’s job. It was professionally edited and deserves a high rating. I rate Reconfigurement, 4 out of 4 stars. The author’s writing style and how he grabbed the reader’s attention deserve high praise, and Alan sharing this valuable information with us justify the rating.
I recommend Reconfigurement to all those concerned with retirement and its after-planning. It is also useful for those who need financial advice and needs tips on budgeting.
Use Reconfigurement efficiently and be prepared and at ease.
