I can't imagine what Lemba must have gone through psychologically. I'd like to find out how he survives this dilemma.

It's heart-rending to see children get thrown into murderous groups. Lemba is a young victim who was forced to join one such Congolese Movement but he wishes to use his skills only for the good of his people.

Technology is inherently a tool. At least it should be. So it's up to us to decide what to do with it. This seems like a moving story. Thank you for your review.

Drone Child: A Novel of War, Family and Survival by David H. Rothman is a well written and steady paced book. It gives the reader's a new point of view through the 15 year old Lemba and an apt description of his struggles. This book should definitely be on one's reading list.

I usually don't like memoirs, but this book looks very interesting. It would be very interesting to see how the character uses his knack for the internet and technology to help him make a difference in the war. Thank you for the wonderful review.

This might sound like sci-fi but it's great that Lemba had an ace up his sleeve with which to negotiate his advances under emotional manipulation of the army of gun-worshipers. Technological know-how is a passive way to counteract unscrupulous individuals who have nothing good offer but misery even to the extent of recruiting child-soldiers.
As we are in an age of artificial intelligence, it's a great book to read just to know ways of evading technology especially where the powers that be are hell-bent on using any means to malign those who don't support their ideals and destroy innocent lives as if they are mere pawns in a game.

Another book that explores some hard themes. I can't imagine going to war at 15 years old. I had trouble going to school at that age... Thank you for the review.

Even though this relatively short book, a fictional memoir based in the near future, describes a horrific situation where children are used by a terrorist group carrying out mass murder in Congolese villages, it also offers hope through the life of Lamba, the 15-year-old protagonist. The note from the author and the questions at the end of the book are a useful addition to the novel. Thanks for a good review on this book.

This sounds like a very interesting book! Lemba being forced into being a soldier at the age of 15 is a dreadful thing! I need to know how Lemba fought and survived! will put this book on my want-to-read list!
Thanks for the fabulous review!

This is an interesting plot of a boy being able to hack drones and is about terrorism. It seems a bit dark for me though. Great review!
