This is a good book that young readers can enjoy. I like that it was set in Africa. I have read a few African stories, but this one seems to be uniquely focused on an advancement in tech. I already sampled and got the book. It seems like something I would read in my spare time.

Loved the storyline. Especially when I realized that it talks about the pathetic condition faced by Congolese people. A great book with slavery, terrorism that shows the truth in the world.

Drone child
Set in the Congo at 13 years his brother had died and he had to do whatever he could to survive. The army raped and murdered but the civilians were traders more than hunters and the elders did the central government. They had TV, video games and computers.
Well written. 4 out of 4
Congratulations on being BOTD.

The book sounds interesting and heartwarming. Still I'm not sure the book is for me as I've already heard and read a lot about the attrocities done towards children in Congo and it's more than enough for me. At the same time I'm really glad the author managed to describe a happy ending despite the horrors of his tale. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

Wow. I haven't read anything like this before. The premise of this book is actually thrilling, I wonder how Lemba would do in the end. I hope when this book ends, Lemba is happy doing for the greater good. I would give this book a try soon.

Thank you so much for the review!

Thank you for this informative review. Although the review is well written and the book sounds like it is as well, this is not a book I personally am interested in reading. I'm sure others will find it a great read and I wish the author success.

A brilliant teenager, Lemba, has a talent for electronics, internet hacking, and flying drones. And because of that, he is being threatened with his parents. It’s an interesting fictional memoir. I’d love to read the entire book.

There are two things that make this fictional memoir irresistible: the unique setting in the Congo and the use of child soldiers. Through Lemba Adula, I am eager to learn more about the motives of the armed groups operating in this part of the world.

"Drone Child: A Novel of War, Family and Survival" by David H. Rothman. An interesting book, talks about Lemba how he escaped and helped his fellow Congolese. The book is so inspiring and motivating. Congratulations on your #BOTD.

I'm interested in knowing what happened for this kid that turned into a soldier, but I'm not sure if I can handle all the drama.

:techie-studyinggray: Stories like this inspired by true events are horrifying. The protagonist, Lemba, a 15 years old boy is faced with a tough choice, work for a terrorist organization or lose his beloved parents. I like the plot and themes are thought-provoking in themselves.

This book sounds fascinating! Even though it's hard to read about children suffering through traumatic events, it sounds like Rothman gracefully handles the subjects mentioned above.

It is atrocious that children are being trained to kill. This is a harsh reality that we see often in terrorist organizations. I hope Lemba and his family will find peace.

I am impressed that a story about terrorist activities does not use any foul language.
