It's always sad to see talent and skills being misused. the agony of being a traitor to your own people because those you love are being held hostage, and I eagerly await the book to learn how this challenge was overcome.

Lemba is smart yet he experienced a lot of horrible things at 15 years old. I wonder too what will happen to him as the story flows.

Erin Dydek wrote: 23 Apr 2022, 14:20 I enjoyed reading the Author's Note and learning about the topic that inspired the book and the truths he aimed to portray in his writing. Beyond this section of the book, the author also provided an extensive list of questions that would enable in-depth discussions of the themes and concepts outlined in the story.
These sections reinforce the author's diligence in telling the story clearly and accurately. Thank you for your thorough introduction to this book, and congrats on BOTD.

As much as I don't like stories of war, I love stories that are about coming of age and family. I love this book already. Thanks to the author for the free copies. Congratulations on BOTD

It sounds like a coming-of-age book sprinkled with science fiction. Lemba sounds like a strong character, and I hope he is able to use his intelligence for the greater good. Thanks for the informative review.

It's unfortunate that Lemba was coerced into becoming a soldier to save his loved ones. He couldn't even use his skill for the good of his fellow Congolese people. How did he finally end up? I would have to read on to find out. Congratulations on BOTD.

The book is a story of a 15 year old child who was forced to become a soldier to save his people. War scenes don't appeal to me but I would like to know more about the stories about the Congolese people. Nicely written review. Congratulations on BOTD.

Wow. I'm intrigued by the plot. A young talentend Lemba trained to kill by the terrorist organization. Thank you for telling us there is a happy ending for him. I appreciate that the author not only added personal notes and discussional questions, but also zero foul language in this fictional memoir about war and harsh life. Great review!

I love how this book not only takes the reader to the modern battlefield through the use of drone warfare, but also uses the story to highlight the plight of the Congolese people.

Thank you for your great review. Though fiction, it is written like a memoir. I am so glad you wrote that he survived, and even thrived. I'm glad to know that even though some heavy subjects are tackled in the book, there isn't any erotic or foul language in it. It seems a little difficult for me to read since it involves children in harm, but I can tell it is written very well. I may hang onto it to read later.

A well presented fictional memoir "Drone Child: A Novel of War, Family and Survival" by David H. Rothman, which follows a fifteen year teen forced to be a terrorist. I am interested to read this book.

This book has a lot of intense themes and violence. IT is sometimes more striking to read about this than to watch it in a movie. Congratulations on book of the day!

A book containing heavy content like child soldiers, the ability to highlight the darkness without excessive detail so young teens can read it is admirable. I enlisted when I was 17, but I voluntarily chose to. Children in foreign countries don't always have a choice. Nice review.
