What is your opinion on Stephenie Meyer?

As a sophomore in high school, I loved Twilight and got all my friends to read it as well. But, I wasn't hung up on it. I kept reading other types of books and genres, so I wasn't as engaged with the series to the point where I had posters in my locker and screen names based off of the characters like some of my friends...

I admit I enjoyed her twilight series but was a bit disappointed with The Host. A long drawn out story. Do we know of any other of her books that she has written or is it only the twilight series and the host? I suppose she has made her money so may not need to write anything else.

She's a has been. She wrote something new and it was a hit. I couldn't even get through the half way mark of Host. And I wouldn't read anything else by her.

I rather enjoy Stephenie Meyer, both the Twilight Saga, and my favorite being, The Host. I think alot of people bring hatred onto her stories, without reading them. The movies did all her books a great injustice. However i was not a 'fan-girl' Over any of her stories.

I was obsessed with reading the books. I watched the first 2 movies before reading so that kinda ruined the book for me. But book 3 I read before going to theatre and watching. I was actually a little depressed that the book was so much better then the movie on book 3. It had so much more detail in it that had been left out in the movies. Things that Jacob said or thought weren't reflected well in the movie. I numerous times Laughed so hard at things he thought or did in the book. The short half life of bree tanner was a very quick read. I liked the insite of what she was trying to bring in but was a little disappointed at the full story line.

Honestly, I like some of her books, the host, but really she is good just not one I would read all the time

My sister-in-law was talking non-stop about the Twilight series so I decided to see what all the fuss was about. I found the story was ridiculously addictive even though the writing was very juvenile. I couldn't stop myself from reading them and I wanted to finish the series but at the same time I couldn't really understand why.

I liked the Twilight series but found her writing style to be a bit simplistic and in a way lacking. As far as her book Host I didn't make it past chapter 2.

I absolutely love Stephanie Meyer. She is actually one of my favorite authors because she catches my attention immediately. There aren't many books that I would read multiple times but Stephanie Meyer's book, "The Host", I have already read twice. Her books are clean and that's a major selling point for me.

I loved the story when I first read the series at 36 and so did lots of women my own age. I see that others describe her writing style as simplistic and uncohesive. The movies were uncohesive. The books'storyline was simple enough for the characters of the story. How complicated does a teenage girl think or speak really? Granted she didn't follow the rules of the horror genre but she bent them just enough to make another boy-girl encounter interesting. It's not Shakespeare, but I don't like Shakespeare.
Maybe Stephenie Meyer is just a simple minded kind of person. That's her writing style. She connected with millions of simple reading kinds of people in the world and isn't the heroine of the story (or anti-heroine as someone called her) most teenage girls out there simply living out a fantasy. I thought it was a good story. I haven't read anything else by Stephenie Meyer but when I like a book I don't feel the need to read anything else by that author.

I loved her books and how she tied all the characters together in her twilight saga. I wished she would continue the books with a spin off about Jacob and his Renesma.

She might not be the best "writer" out there. An English instructor could pick her work apart. But give her credit for entertaining. She certainly captured my attention. I always thought vampires were for coffins and nightmares. But she started a trend in an otherwise gruesome area. And I look forward to supernatural love stories now where before I would have steered clear of science fiction altogether.

Not a fan of the Twilight book due to many of the reasons others have stated. I did however enjoy The Host. I just liked the story.

I think she's a good writer. Her use of language is compelling and you can see she's an English major - all the references to classics such as wuthering heights and Pride and prejudice gave her away. What she wrote about was a whole different matter. She basically created a euphoric love story, an impossible love triangle and way too many convenient turn of events. But twilight was a raging success and got a ridiculously huge fanbase which means that she did something right. In my opinion she's an ok author, not mind blowing or anything, she's good at describing emotions and feelings, other than that I do believe she can and should grow as an author and polish her writing skills.
