Review of Winning the War on Cancer
Winning the War on Cancer: The Epic Journey Towards a Natural Cure written by Selvie Beljanski is a non-fictional book aiming to give and share information about a natural cure for cancer.
In the year of 1961, the "War on Cancer" was declared. This is when researchers and scientists start to give more attention to cancer. But several decades later, experts say that they more like losing the battle, and there are even more cancer discovered. This book focuses on giving information that the natural cure is there all along. The Beljanski Foundation is the foundation that the father of Selvie Beljanski created when he was still alive. Together also in this book, the journey of how this foundation was created and how the Beljanski fight to keep their foundation working and giving hope to others. But the author mentions that this book is only to provide information and not to serve as a self-help book.
The first thing that I liked about this book is how it focuses more on giving a glimpse of information on the natural cure of cancer and the journey of the author's foundation rather than being a book giving tips and advice on how to cure cancer. Because we are all aware that cancer is not a simple matter. It is a matter of life and death. So, I really liked how the author focused on giving hope that there are natural remedies to cure cancer and did not give the cure itself.
Another thing that I liked about this book is the quote before every chapter starts. These quotes help me to be ready for what the chapter is about to unfold. They also make me excited and intrigued about what the next chapter is all about. I also find the inserted pictures help to make me more committed to finding out more about the journey of this book.
On the nearly 235 pages of this book, the details that the readers need to have hope. In these pages, she also has given enough information about what The Beljanski Foundation has been through. Overall, I can say that this book is professionally written. I also didn't find any grammatical errors, making me say that this book is exceptionally well-edited.
There's no negative factor that I find while reading the book. Considering the factors stated above makes me give this book a rating of four out of four stars. I recommend this book to readers who are looking for a book that would give hope that there is a cure for cancer. This book could also fit as a memoir since this book also features the journey of the author and The Beljanski Foundation, so readers who are fond of reading memoirs might also like it.
