I feel like most action series such as James Bond or Jason Bourne are meant for the big screen, simply because there are so many action scenes that I feel like it would be difficult to translate into writing. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that these popular movies were actually based on movies. I read the first Jason Bourne book and I was quite impressed by how the author described the action scenes, but still I would never have guessed that these staples in pop culture were based off of books.sarahnichole92 wrote: ↑09 Sep 2013, 19:48 I am always amazed when I see "based on a book by..." on the title screen, especially classic movies. I like to read the book before seeing a movie- but I didn't know there were so many! For example:
Schindler's List (titled Schindler's Ark by Thomas Keneally)
The Godfather- MArio Puzo
Breakfast At Tiffany's- Truman Capote. I like both equally as much. I love Audrey Hepburn!
What are some movies you didn't believe were initially books? Which one did you like better?

I'm not sure why I assumed it was only a movie, the plot just didn't scream "book" to me I guess. Haven't read the book yet though so I can't pit the two against each other.

I had no idea the Twilight Saga was a book. I liked all the movies in the franchise, but I haven't read the books yet. I have a feeling the books will fall short of my expectations.sarahnichole92 wrote: ↑09 Sep 2013, 19:48 I am always amazed when I see "based on a book by..." on the title screen, especially classic movies. Most action movies and iconic franchises like James Bond or Jason Bourne I find hard to believe are based off of books. How would an author describe all the action and fight scenes? But I read the first Jason Bourne book and I must admit, I was really impressed with how the author detailed the fighting in layman's terms while still capturing the intensity and excitement of watching it happen.sarahnichole92 wrote: ↑09 Sep 2013, 19:48 I am always amazed when I see "based on a book by..." on the title screen, especially classic movies. I was amused the day I discovered that it was based on a book. I had to look for the book and read it. I enjoyed the book more than the movie
