Yes, the author did. The police brutality and unfairness was too much for Steve to handle, and the author did not just tell us this, he let us see it from different scenes. His girlfriend was spoken to rudely, even himself had to face it once.

The author has my support. Despite the fact that Steve was almost finished with law school when he took what I perceived to be a somewhat severe decision, I recognize that some people have to deal with certain events in their lives when they arise. Not missing these crucial occasions is a must.

Yeah, I think it is quite common to see young people change fields just because they suddenly become passionate about a certain subject, and given the circumstances in the book, where change was desperately needed in society, I think it was quite believable and realistic.

This is true... Youths and passion are opposite sides of the same coin. So I agree with you that the author did a believable job.

I believe Steve made up his mind to focus on birthing a better system than just studying law. However, I think becoming a lawyer would place him in a right spot for his cause.
