It is wonderful to know that Jacob and his brother were able to become successful even without their father. Congrats on the BOTD.

Congratulations on being BOTD. This book is right up my alley, and I would love to know what Jacob's trauma was. There's also a lesson in there somewhere; keeping secrets always causes more harm than good.

Many thanks for the lovely review.

The book looks into the complexities of growing up with absent parents and its impacts on adult life. It uses history to set a suitable background to explore this theme. Congratulations on Book of the Day!

I feel so eager to read this book. What is Jacob's nightmare that resurfaced? What happened to his father that left them when they were kids? I'd like to know the answer to these questions. Good review.

This book with its interesting title seems to be rich with a good fictional plot. Jacob is an interesting character I'd like to read about. I'll also like to read about the historical events that were recorded in this book. Great review.

The Story of.... makes one curious what it's all about. The story of 2 abandoned kids who went through hardships but patiently triumphed over their misfortunes. Good friends and love ones were their saving factors. It is an inspiring story. Thanks for the bolstering review.

I'm glad Jacob and Heschel turned out fine, despite experiencing a not so good childhood. I wonder how the Polish soldier was came back into his life. Well-done for a great review!

The author did a great job with the character development, it makes reading enjoyable. I like the fact that Jacob and Herchel did allow their past experiences to affect their future. Nice story, wonderful review

I’m happy both of them made the best out of their conditions
Though they lack that parental care and love they still had eachothers back each time

I’m not into love stories or feel good books at the moment, but when I’m healed and look at books like this again, this book will be waiting on my book shelves. Great review, caught my interest and gave me a heads up on Chapter 8.

I love a book like this one. I am hardly surprised the author cared little for suspense. The focus of historical fictions is often divided between the events being narrated and the emotions of the characters. This review is very informative, and I believe this book to be one that is more than deserving of all the praise. Congratulations!!!

Exceptionally well-developed character stories are some of my favorites. I am not a fan of historical fiction but I understand the relevancy of the story for a timeline of Jacob's life.

According to the description provided in review the book's storyline sounds really dark and cruel, definitely not something children had to encounter and later forced to bear experiences leaving lifelong trauma. No offense, but I prefer to skip this book, but congratulations with BOTD, anyway!

After reading the sample and your great review I believe that this is a powerful book that many will enjoy. I think that I will probably pass as historical fiction dealing with years after 1900 are not where I feel comfortable. Give me some Medieval, Tudor, or even Regency I'm right at home. Great review and congrats to the author for BOTD honors.
