It sounds like Jacob and Heschel turned out to be strong men after their father left them. They became loving and caring people despite everything.

This well-written historical fiction novel based on true lives sounds like a moving and inspirational read. Great review!

I am very fascinated by Jacob's "worst nightmare." Based on the premise of the story, I believe this is Max, Jacob's father.
Congratulations to the author for BOTD!

Max is indeed a poor excuse of a father. I'm glad Jacob and Heschel turned out okay. It would be great to read about the Jewish tradition. Congratulations on BOTD.

Jacob seemed to have put a lid on a very serious issue to protect his brother, Herschel. I would love to know more about his sacrifice. Interesting review.

This story sounds intriguing. I'm glad that Jacob and his brother managed to survive. There must be a reason behind Max's roughness. What did they do to their father? What was gonna happen between Jacob and the stranger? This book is surely giving an emotional rollercoaster. Thank you for a well-written review.

The idea of Max leaving his brothers in a brothel is terrible. I'm glad they turned out fine. I'd still love to read this book to find out how they fared. Thanks for the amazing review.

The compelling real-life narrative of one young man's struggle to immigrate to America and his climb to prosperity after he arrived is woven into a captivating fictitious tale. His experience serves as a poignant reminder of the American ideal. It's a captivating story that will have you turning the pages.

Wow this was amazing review,am now salivating to read it, I hope Jacob and his brother were able to forgive their father as sometimes we commit offense unknowingly and later ask for forgiveness when we come back to our sense. Otherwise congrats on BOTD.

This book further reinforces the fact that, in order to have a functional family, children need the love of both parents. It also reveals the merits of having real friendships. Thank you for this succinct review.

Even though,
One night, Jacob experienced a hurtful and shameful thing
,it looks like the worst place(the brothel) to grow up in, brought the best out of them(Jecob and Heschel). So, one really can't judge a book by it's cover.
Wherever Jacob went, he made a lot of friends. He was loved and cherished by all the people he encountered. They always had Jacob's back no matter what.
That is also a sort-after privilege, Jacob received and not very common in real life. Hence, while I like to root for the underdog, my (metaphorical)tongue, like a dog's, will hang in anticipation as I download the book to read. Thank you for a mouth watering review!
