Rifleman Dodd by CS Forester

Hi everyone! The next book on my list is Rifleman Dodd and my good friend, a Marine, said it was amazing (I guess it was on a suggested reading list for them). I'm not sure if he's saying that based on a bias or not but it sounds "okay". Has anyone read it at all? Thoughts?

I'm more into the historical facts when it comes time for war books not so much of the gore and violence depicted. So I'm looking for a heads up if that might be a factor!! I love to buy my books but not sure if I should spend money on this one or just head to the library!
