The quote I liked best is 'Kim had long ago learned the value of dull conventionality. Being the oddball was never wise, even if you were right.' I think it sums Kim's character up perfectly.

In relation to Kim
She had lost everything except the freedom to think for herself.

I agree with you that this perfectly sums up the premise of the book. Citizens cannot express an ounce of individuality without punishment. Kim, and others, have learned to lay low to avoid the cold showers and boring food, if not far worse punishments.

There are several quotes that I liked about this book. I don't think there's one that I particularly liked. I also learned a lot from this book, especially about AI.

My favourite quote is "We think and therefore we are". In my view this quote is quintessential and iconic in its controversy exactly like the book itself. On the one hand, I can't agree more with the literal out-of-context meaning of this quote by the Chief AI. On the other hand, the Hierarchy is doing everything to suppress the ability to think both in the humans like Kim by getting control of Kim's brain and by suppressing free will and free thinking by the "Terms of Service", and in the AIs like Kimberly by capping them at the end of the manufacturing process.

"Prepare for the grind." is my favorite quote because it sums up Kim's life perfectly.

I absolutely loved "We think and therefore we are" as that is the main thing setting us aside from the AIs and our emotions.

We think and therefore we are. This quote goes a long way in shedding light on how people influence their life. From what I understand, we should be careful with what we think of ourselves. This can either build or break us.

We are what we think we are. This quotation does a great job of illuminating how individuals affect one another's lives. I believe that we should be cautious about how we view ourselves. This might make or ruin us.

:tiphat: I absolutely agree with you on this. This is my favorite quote because it's carries a certain type of motivation, a push to prepare for the inevitable. It certainly is my favorite quote too.

I found the quotes quite appealing. Nonetheless, I didn't like any particularly. All of them got the same level of likeness from me.

This one just made me so happy.

"One of the Creators, named Rav, recounted how she and her AI, Revilak, had been at loggerheads, neither of them willing to admit to being human, until her AI had exclaimed, “Aha! You’re happy you’re an AI! We don’t have emotions, so that proves you’re a human. I am Revilak, you are Rav. I am an AI, you are my Creator.” Rav related that she had nearly gone mad as a result, and that her own creation had tried to terminate her. It hadn’t worked, so Rav was forced to concede that she was human after all."

My favorite quote, "The world was so vast, so wonderful, yet strange and alien. Rugged and unkept, it was completely unlike the cities and the manicured parks that Kim was used to. Hour after hour she sat, mesmerized." I love it because it shows a world outside of the AI's control. I escape the hustle and bustle of our daily lives by going on a hike with my Grandpa. Kim got to experience untouched nature for the first time.
