Official Review: The Facebook Nostradamus by E.R. Escober

[Following is the official OnlineBookClub.org review of "The Facebook Nostradamus" by E.R. Escober.]

Quite simply, this is one of the worst books I have read in a long time. I started out thinking that surely it would get better in a minute but sadly, it only got worse. I am giving this a 1 out of 4 star rating.

Here are some of the problems I had with this book. First off, the language was entirely inappropriate. The sheer amount of vulgarity that had nothing to do with the story line at all was very distracting and left a bad taste in your mouth. Secondly, please don’t ramble. I got lost so many times in this story. Thirdly, shorten your sentences please. Seriously, one sentence should not last an entire paragraph. By the time you got to the end of the sentence, I couldn’t remember what was being said at the beginning.

I didn’t like how none of the chapter titles are capitalized at all, but that may have been intentional. I also could not appreciate the over abundant use of LOL, LMAO, WTF, etc…. Not my style, but I am actually pretty sure that was intentional.

All of that being said, here are a few things that I did appreciate somewhat. The author has a habit of changing the names of famous people or icons that we know, i.e. Barbra Waters instead of Barbara Walters, and ZNN versus CNN. I found that to be rather amusing. If the point of this story was to be a satirical story, it has promise. I also really appreciated the use of vocabulary. It’s not often that you find someone willing to use so many adjectives (the good kind).

My final prognosis, I didn’t like the book. I struggled through it because I said I would review it but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, regardless of genre. And the ending was so off the wall, I was left feeling like I had completely jumped off the deep end. I would encourage the author to continue writing, but get much more of a story line. I couldn’t believe that I read 315 pages and only got a very short story. If you read it, you will understand what I mean. But then again, better if you don’t.
