In the book Looking Glass Friends by E. L. Neve, we see two people find their true soul’s reflection. Neil and Ellie meet at the bakery that Neil works at and later bond through email over a book that Ellie gives to Neil. Both of them are married to others and Ellie has a five-year-old son, but neither are particularly happy. Through their emails, they find that their souls are more of a reflection of each other’s than their spouses and they begin to fall in love. Although they fight it, they each drift farther from their spouse and closer to each other. In the end, they end up happy for the first time in a long time.

I really enjoyed the philosophical points of the book and the amount of detail that the author put into the dialogue of the characters. This is a true love story and the length that the characters go through to express their love for each other is extremely impressive. There was so much depth to each of the characters and you would catch different view points all within the same chapter, but it all meshed together really well. The editing in the book was great and that added to how much I really enjoyed reading it.

The only thing I didn’t find as compelling in this book was the actual character of Ellie’s husband, John. He was the typical jerk of a cheating husband that treats his wife like a trophy and not the living, breathing, brilliant woman she actually is. Other than that, his character actually fit into the story perfectly and built the book magnificently.

The editing of this book was phenomenal and I only caught a few minor mistakes if they could actually be called that. With that being said, I would give it a 5 out of 5 stars and would still highly recommend the book.

This book should be read by a true lover of romance, because that’s what this book it. The age limit shouldn’t have to be over 18 because even though there are sexual scenes within the book, they are not super intense or in a lot of detail. They more describe the soulful feeling more so than the physical aspect. There is a potential threat of a rape scene that I don’t want to ruin, but it may trigger some people. Overall, I loved the book and will definitely read it again and recommend it to others to read.
