This is an interesting fiction novel highlighting two unique protagonists, high school life, life changes, social justice, adaptation, and growth. The book is temporarily discounted on Amazon Kindle and has a well-written OnlineBookClub review. Congrats on the BOTD selection.

I personally don't like stories that take their time to kick in. However, if there's a reasonable explanation at some point in the story, then it will make sense to me. But halfway into the story is way too long a time for the story to kick in.

"Whole Lot of Hullabaloo" by Christopher Fried details youthful exorbitance and how Troy Thomas and Ian Mueller managed theirs. College students will enjoy this read.

To be honest, I'm not a fan of reading storylines that are too slow, especially when the main conflict is not worth the development. However, it is true that exploring character backstory and personalities are important, thank you for the insightful review.

I like reading about perceived social injustice. How Troy and Ian became involved is a mystery from here.

Intellectual musings and lots of over use of description which do not appear to move the story along are not for me. Thank you for a great review!

I don’t mind if the book is slow at first as long as it quickens and there’s a connection to the story. Usually the slow plot is important to the plot. Thank you for your review!

Both entertaining and thought-provoking, today's BOTD is a novel that follows the lives of two college students living out their days, until a Halloween costume gone wrong upends their lives in ways neither of them expected. I'm really looking forward to reading this one; I think it could bring about some great discussions. Thank you so much! :-)

As it's a story about sociopolitical issues and racial injustice, this book addresses very crucial matters that even people who aren't directly affected by it can easily appreciate.

I just read the sample and there are definitely some really intriguing concepts in the opening of the story. Right from the get go you have two main characters each very ambitious about the task they set forth. Sam is the more prominent (at least in the sample I read which consisted mostly of chapter 1) character and we already see the themes surrounding his character: racial inequalities, balancing personalities in academia, and his own marriage. Troy, on the other hand, is focused more on being the perfect high school student which is in contrast with the attitude of his friend.

A few things did irk me however. The dialogue at times can feel a bit stiff. Spoken English often doesn't make use of words such as Moreover and However in the casual sense, so it does sometimes distract the reader. Also, the two male characters' treatment or attitude towards women is a bit off-putting. However, that can be excused a bit for the college-aged Troy.

All in all, it seems like it would be an interesting book to read to completion.

If the cover and the title are so ironic can't wait to find out what happens in the novel. Thanks for the great review.

The title of the book at first glance may mislead you to think it's a children's book, however it is not and has an interesting plot. What exactly was the controversy Troy and Ian brought upon themselves? I would like to know

Great review! Seems like quite a layered story, so it could definitely be interesting to read if you have the time to get into it.

A halloween costume attracting more attention than intended. I think this book is going to be full of drama. Thanks for the review.

The writer did well by clearly saying and l quote " The book was rife with intellectual musings, so I would also recommend this book to readers who are looking for intellectually stimulating books"and l agree to that. Great review.
