Thank you for your insightful review. After reading the sample and your review, I believe I will pass on this one. I also agree that character development is very important, but I prefer the books I read to get to the point a little quicker. I don't know what exactly was the Halloween costume problem, but I wonder if it was a joke as far as Ian was thought. I'm sure many others will enjoy the book.

Seems like a great book. Troy and Ian's story seems fascinating. After reading the title, I never thought that the book dealt with many socio-political issues.

The book sounds very relevant to today’s world. I’m not sure how I feel about the critiques of political correctness, but I’ll have to read the book first before making any judgment on that. Thank you for the helpful review.

I appreciate the topics in this book. We live in world where people easily go into uproar over the minute things that is sometimes warrant. I'd like to find out for myself what the controversy was and determine if it was micro aggressive or not. I believe a college student is old enough to not partake in things like that.

The references to Miami Vice were appealing to me, as this TV show was filmed not far from where I live. The social topics are a little much for me, so I am going to pass on this one. Thanks for the review though!

A nice humourous fiction novel "Whole Lot of Hullabaloo" by Christopher Fried, which follows two college friends who land into trouble after a halloween party. I am eager to read this book.

"Whole Lot of Hullabaloo" by Christopher Fried is a story about two college students named Troy and Ian. They go to an off-campus Halloween costume party and Ian wears a Miami Vice costume and suddenly their lives suffer a dramatic change from ordinary to serious problems with the school administration, the press and fellow students. One student claims microaggression and that Ian should b sanctioned by the school. This story brought back great memories from my college days and many a fraternity party. Having someone arrive at one of the parties dressed like a member of Miami Vice and acting the role would have created quite a scene at any of the parties and undoubtedly caused serious problems. The press would have been all over it, the school would probably recommend discipline and all because of a college prank. One needs to read the book to find out what happens to Ian and Troy. I am adding it to My Want to Read shelf.

Portraying socio-political issues in a humorous manner makes readers look at such issues from a completely different perspective. I was a bit skeptical about the title but the review shows the book has lots of interesting themes that will interest me.

Books that do not introduces the main issue within the first couple of chapters always lose me. The plot is prevalent to today's society because something that someone finds no offense, can offend a whole group of people. This is definitely a conversation starter.
