I am interested in how the Halloween costume turned into "controversy". I am glad that the author explores the issues of racial stereotypes because that issue is affecting everyone around the world who is of colour. In South Africa, we recently had a racial issue, where children of colour were attacked because they wanted to swim. The suspects were charged and taken to court but the families of these children are still traumatized. We cannot change the colour of our skin but we can change how we see each other. We are all human beings created in God's image.

The slow pace of the novel can get boring at times but if it is used effectively to develop the characters it contributes to the success of the novel. Sometimes things done with harmless intentions can get pretty controversial and sometimes get hurtful for a particular school of thought. Thanks for the review!
