It is a quick escape from reality and enter another world. I like thrillers and mysteries because of the adventure and romances because of the happy endings.

I love words put beautifully together to make a good story. Like that I can experience things which might be impossible for me, learn new things, disconnect from the present, even travel to a distant places within an afternoon, relive events, remember the past, get new ideas... and so on.

I think that I love to read about different times and places to take me away from our current depressing reality with war and death and poverty. It also helps me when I am feeling down to escape in to one of my well worn favorite books. :D

I love reading because it is almost like entering another persons mind. By reading their work, it takes me to a land of imagination. You can tell a lot about an author by the way he/she writes.

It's not really something I ever gave great thought to, I've just always been a reader. It's a bit like asking me why do I like breathing - it's just something I've always done, always enjoyed and quite simply as with breathing I have to read.

I love to read for 2 main reasons. One reason is because it is relaxing and the other reason is because it is like playing a movie in my head. If the author is a good writer I can imagine every detail.

I love it because it gives me the opportunity to explore infinite other worlds, and infinite possibilities. I can literally explore someone else's imagination, taking me place I never dreamed of. Maybe that sounds cliche, but it's true.

I used to collect books when I could but would never bother getting around to read them. I loved the idea of reading but not giving up something else to actually do it. Yet I loved to write.

When my first daughter was born I found I would be laying in bed wide awake but if I moved she'd wake up and I didn't want that. So I picked up a book and started to read. Since then over 5 years ago I think I have made up for my lack of reading in earlier years. I am not fast by any means but I dedicate a lot of time to reading. It is my escape from my life when I am getting overwhelmed. In fact if I miss reading a few days I am a raging b.i.t.c.h. until I start again. My spouse can tell when I've missed my reading and he has no problem telling me to go to bed and read. (Yes, he reads too)
When you're wrong, your really wrong. When you're right, you're a pain in my a$$.

I enjoy reading for pleasure... not so much if it has to do with work or school...

When I do read for pleasure I do it to relax, to get away from the craziness and stress of my life and read about the love, joy and adventure of someone else's life. The goal is not to read something that is going to stress me out more than I am at that current point in time. So, needless to say... I am a sucker for a happy ending.

Reading is my comfort food. It makes me feel peaceful and relaxed just by picking up a book. I love horror novels, and reading them allows me to experience fear in a controlled setting. Fantasy and paranormal books are for fun and escapism.
Basically, I read because it gives me great joy!
