Especially in America, life expectancy has increased. At least 30 years have been added to each person's life. While this is good news, it's disheartening to know that most people don't have a plan to live longer and remain healthy and be financially capable. As a result, retirement is no longer the time to play golf as is intended but rather a moment to relive the accumulated misfortunes of life.

Authored by E. Alan Fleischauer, Reconfigurement teaches how to reconfigure ourselves and our resources to reap the benefits during the retirement period. According to E. Alan Fleischauer, planning is mandatory but not enough to secure a brighter future. He encourages the need to have a reliable income and to spend frugally. Career assessments are also important since they help one know their personality strength and identify the appropriate careers. Among many others, the nitty gritty of insurance, investment plans, and the importance of writing a will are also discussed in the book.

In a nutshell, E. Alan Fleischauer realized retirement is one height of life most people reach when fully unprepared. He wrote Reconfigurement to heal what's ailing our society.

One thing that distinguishes this book from the others is the author’s choice of words. E. Alan Fleischauer avoids jargon, which can be found in books of similar genres. To lighten the mood a bit, E. Alan Fleischauer also sprinkles jokes here and there. Neither does he leave matters on the surface. On health insurance, he discusses at length Medicare and Medicaid. On career assessments, readers are told the websites to look for and what to expect on either of these websites. What's more, relevant website links are provided in the footnote.

While reading Reconfigurement, I didn’t come across anything that I might’ve deemed as negative. Therefore, I’m rating Reconfigurement 5 out of 5 because I didn’t find any errors, be it grammar or typos, which led me to conclude that the book was exceptionally edited. This book taught me some useful legal terms on the subject of the will. To justify my rating further, I’m certain the book’s message can resonate beyond the borders even though the author seems to have American citizens as his ideal audience by frequently referring to America and its respective institutions.

All of us will grow old, unless in the case of early death. As such, we should plan. We should work hard when young and save and invest. I, therefore, recommend Reconfigurement to anyone above the age of thirty because, as E. Alan Fleischauer has said, the earlier we start reconfiguring our lives, the better.
