Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
Finding himself at a very young age stuck in the Lands of the princes in the middle of a war with his supposed brothers is not the best way to be brought up. This is exactly what happens with our main character Galen Bray. But when the chance to leave this place shows up he didn’t hesitate for a second to take it. His dying uncle searched for him since Galen is the only heir. Feeling grateful for his uncle and this chance, he sits on a journey to know about a whole new life a better one but not void of challenges. Along his journey, the world unravels to show that there is more than just a world we live in there is a different universe out there waiting to be discovered. As exciting as it is not all the people are just seeking good, but in the shadows, people are waiting to start their evil schemes to reach the magic world "Caromentis" to use its magic power and to hold power above all. Our story kicks off with Hillport's lord "Meldorath" being under arrest for an unknown reason. Afterward, the king assigns Eldus, a wise judge in Soulhire the capital of Voulhire, as the new lord. Eldus is eager to help Hillport flourish, but he is also afraid of its past and what is to come. On the other hand, we have the famous Meldorath a magician who served his king and Voulhire but changed his ambition to claim more power. To the public, he is dead, but is he? Meldorath doesn’t care about this world which is called the Cosmos he wants the very powerful magic world Caromentis.
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is the first book in the series that I guarantee is an astonishing one for those who like the sci-fi genre. The author Matthew Tysz did a fantastic job this book is one that you will know once you start that will remain in your mind after you finish it. It is written with so much skillfulness and mastery. The author’s writing style is admirable, and I got attracted to see how he will formulate each scene as much as I got attracted to the book itself. The characters' development is so smooth and subtle. Every scene and plot in this book are original it reminds me of some great book series like the Harry Potter series. The book has nearly no typos and it shows it has been professionally edited for sure even the wording is on spot. The evil character of Meldorath was spot on, along with Riva Rohavi's style it just gave me chills toward the end.
The story is well crafted, and each scene serves a purpose and shows you a new side of the character. The character development and the blot formation were spotless, albeit a bit slow. I would have preferred if the book contained more events before it ended at least for some characters like the prisoner biomage that was at the end scene and the Mianora and the king.
My rating for this book is 5 out of 5 . The storyline is amusing, and the political scenes shown are perfectly written by Mathew, his way of showing the kings’ decisions and the struggle with Maido, chancellor of Mianora, along with how he goes about trying to develop the southern is all splendid with the perfect mindset for each character. The story, plot, characters, and even the enemies in this book attracted me. This book is a wholesome book for someone who likes sci-fi with some politics along the storyline. I am excited to dive in for the next book.
This book is suitable for someone who likes sci-fi with the flavor of magic and politics. I think it is more suitable for adults and teenagers.
