Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer is a book that mainly focuses on planning for retirement. The author gives information on a wide variety of topics that are crucial for retirement planning. Some subjects Reconfigurement touches on include insurance, career selection and testing, social security, investment choices, 401k, and IRA.

Reconfigurement is a short but informative book. It is only 161 pages long and contains thirteen chapters in total. Kudos to E. Alan Fleischauer for versatility in his writing. I was quite surprised when I came across this book because I have mostly read his fictional books. It is safe to say that he did not disappoint with Reconfigurement. I appreciate that he was able to share some of his knowledge in finance and financial management in this book.

I like how well-explained things are in this book. The author gives explanations of various terms and topics in the book without using complicated financial jargon. I also like that he includes lots of jokes throughout the book. Incorporating jokes increases readability and makes the reading process less monotonous.

I also like that the writing in Reconfigurement takes on a more conversational tone. The book also contains real-life examples that make it more relatable. I like that chapter thirteen is dedicated to the author’s reading recommendations for readers who enjoy Reconfigurement and are looking for similar books.

In summary, I will be giving Reconfigurement a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. I did not come across anything that warranted a star deduction. Reconfigurement is an exceptionally written and edited book. I did not find any errors whatsoever while reading. I learned a lot from reading this book. It contains helpful information on retirement planning that can benefit many readers. Another good thing about Reconfigurement is that it caters to retirement planning in the post-pandemic world.

Reconfigurement is perfect for Americans who are interested in planning their retirement and want to be more financially literate. Even though the target audience is people in their forties and fifties, I think 20 and 30-year-olds can benefit from implementing the things mentioned in this book.

Reconfigurement is also a good book for immigrants or anyone planning on permanently relocating to the USA. It has practical information for anyone unfamiliar with the available options for retiring in America. This book is mainly suitable for Americans. Therefore it may not be fitting for readers from other countries. However, I think non-American readers can still benefit from reading Reconfigurement, and they can apply some of the things mentioned in the book.
