I have to say Rick Riordan. He is just a great author that understands teens and tweens in so many funny and weird ways. Me and my friends are all friends because these books. Thats how I started talking to a friend, who knew i friend i was friends with, who knew my best friends brother, so thats how we started this group of friends. So thanks rick r!

When I was very young, it was Brian Jacques. Then later it was Douglas Adams, followed by Terry Pratchett. Apparently I have a thing for British authors.

Sven Hassel was the first author all of whose books I read, unusual choice for a girl but it wasn't really a choice. My older brother was a big fan and had all the books which I was permitted to borrow one at a time. Not only were they great reads but the paperbacks were neat enough to fit in my schoolbag & easy to carry about & hide when necessary! They undoubtly fostered my love of history and are responsible for all the many, many WW11 themed books I have read since and all that I have puchased since I began earning a few bob.
I remember those paperbacks fondly.

James Patterson was the first for me. I read all of his Along Came A Spider books, The Women's Murder Club, Alex Cross, etc. He is a hard one to keep up with, though!

The first at a very young age was R.L. Stine.

Now it's W.E.B. Griffin and Tom Clancy.

Having dyslexia it took me a while to really get the book bug, but the first author to hook me into their books enough that I could not put them down was Dean Koontz. At 14 I think it was because what ever monster was in his book was going to get me if I didn't finish it; yet I couldn't wait to start the next scare fest! No wonder I am a night owl 20 + years later.

I loved V.C. Andrews I would read all night to finish a book, I loved taking a vacation alone to read...and would lay on the beach all day reading when I was in my 20's. then dean Koontz, and JK Roling. Now I still do the same thing but read faster.

I think it was Lee Strobel for me!

John R. Erickson. When I was in elementary school I had to read every Hank the Cowdog book that came out.

I think the first book I read and read again was Grimm's Fairy Tales. Also Hans Christian Anderson. Also the Bible, then Conan Doyle, Who ever wrote the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew, Issac Asimov, Harlen Ellison....but I don't know if I ever got to read everything! For me reading is like having a big candy store open 24/7. Do you ever get everything? Even today as an elder in our society, I find myself going on jags-reading authors wildly, sucking up their prose like some vaccine against the bad times. I haunt the bookstores and Internet for new discoveries, some new morsel to satisfy my deepest desires. Journeys far and wide for print. It is not gone from our lives as long as we have authors to mix up our imaginations with their observations.

At one point of time, it was Sidney Sheldon for me! I wanted to be able to say, "I've read all 18 of his books, as has my Dad!". Of course, I don't feel that way anymore.
