In The Mental Fight of Your Life, Freddie Floyd Jr. addresses critical issues concerning building a sustainable relationship and married life. The discourse is developed with relevant biblical teachings as well as the author's opinions based on his experiences and interactions with single and married male and female genders. The book presents males and females intending to enter a relationship or already in one with the information and strategies they need to create a truly memorable and impactful partnership or union.

I was most impressed by the information Freddie supplied about the basic needs of the male and female genders, an understanding of which will go a long way in forming a relationship that works for both parties. I think this knowledge should be given urgent dissemination, given the disturbingly increasing rate of relationship and marriage failures these days. Again, the author commented on a very common issue that has broken a lot of homes. This is the prioritisation of persons (fathers, mothers, siblings, other relatives, religious leaders, mentors, and the like) in the lives of married couples. I was impressed with how this issue was addressed.

Moreover, I liked how the author organised this book; it aided my comprehension of the issues explored in it. The first five of the eleven chapters are centred on the male gender, and in the process, the essential qualities they should develop and the crucial roles they are naturally obligated to play to move the relationship and the family in the right direction are highlighted. The remaining chapters addressed the joint responsibilities of both genders. The discourse is mostly developed from biblical references from the books of Ephesians, Genesis, and Timothy, among others.

This book presents the readers with what to look out for before entering into a relationship or married life; I was truly informed by them. However, I was not impressed that some sections of the book appeared to be unnecessarily preachy; it sometimes bored me. Although I found some grammatical errors in this book, I appreciated the effort put into giving it great editing. Based on the aspects I liked in this book, I rate it five out of five stars. The negative concern I noted is not serious enough to make me lower the rating.

I recommend this book to anyone, single or married, who desires to learn what they need to know and practise to form a sustainable relationship and family life, especially Christian males and females. Although there are occasional biblical references in this book, such discourses on the consistency of professed commitments, mutual trust, respect, and little but exceptional dispositions, among others, have been proven to be potent and of universal significance, irrespective of one's spiritual or religious inclinations. Hence, readers outside the Christian fold will also find this book helpful.
