Thank you for your review. Reading the sample on Amazon (including other reviews) had me interested in adding this to my reading list. Mixing historical events and fiction allowed the author more freedom to express herself. I found some of the quotes haunting and disturbing but we need to understand human nature better by examining and discussing it.

.. is about how Stella Claire ter Hart's search for closure leads her to buried secrets. These are horrifying secrets her mother, Sophia, will prefer to carry to her grave than go through the horror of retelling them.

- There could be several reasons for Sophia not wanting to do this but on the other hand, telling them can be so invigorating and help to take a whole load off of her chest, helping her to truly be happy and free.

This book sounds like an interesting depiction of the Holocaust. I'm not usually a fan of holocaust books, simply because it's so depressing, but I agree it's important to educate ourselves on history so we're less likely to repeat it. Since this book seems to focus more on Stella's family history than the actual Holocaust event, it might be worth a read. Good review!

Stella Claire ter Hart really put in a great amount of research in writing this book, especially the sections on family members and relations from very long ago time. It's great, too, that the author is able to achieve a cohesive tie between the varying times and places of the events narrated in this book. I think readers will learn a couple of things from the issues highlighted in this book, so I recommend it.
