Review of Terms of Service
Terms of Service by Craig W. Stanfill is a science fiction novel set in a world where an Artificial Intelligence Company has taken over and controls everything, including citizens' behavior. The company rewards good behavior and punishes inappropriate conduct by adding or subtracting grade points, respectively. Kim, the protagonist, has been chosen to hunt down a group of Anti-Mentorists who refuse to give up their children to mentors as demanded by the government. However, Kim is traumatized by her own experience of a late handover, and she must overcome her emotional baggage while completing her mission.
The positive aspects of this book are many. The author creates a unique and compelling world that is both fascinating and frightening. The premise of an AI-controlled society is thought-provoking and raises important questions about the role of technology in our lives. The pacing of the story is well-done, with a good balance of action, suspense, and character development. The protagonist, Kim, is relatable, and her struggles with the trauma of her past and the pressures of her present make her a compelling character. The editing of the book is also top-notch, with no glaring grammatical or typographical errors.
