We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies, written by Matthew Tysz, is the first installment of the We Are Voulhire book series. After a life that has largely consisted of nothing but battle and its horrors, the plot opens with our protagonist, Galen Bray, traveling to the lovely and thriving kingdom of Voulhire in order to inherit his great uncle's forge. With each day that goes by, Galen grows to love this new aspect of the universe, but he also begins to realize that Voulhire is far from perfect. He makes a few new friends, including Rowan, the executor of his uncle's estate. Therefore, as our protagonist begins his new life, he tries to understand the new customs of this vast nation and make a meager living as a blacksmith.

I adore how he managed to construct a convoluted plot while still keeping it interesting and simple to follow. He achieved this by gradually introducing new settings, people, and historical events while maintaining a good pace. He managed to maintain the tension throughout the entire novel. This novel definitely kept me turning the pages. A thorough map of Voulhire, highlighting all the major settlements, is presented at the beginning of the book. This made it easier for me to picture the characters' relative positions and motions. In order to avoid spending too much time on a single scenario, I also liked how the author kept switching up the situations from chapter to chapter.

There was nothing that I disliked about the book; it was intriguing and entertaining. My favorite aspect of this book is how the author managed to paint a rich and in-depth picture of the landscapes without pulling the reader out of the action. There was no convoluted plot, unnecessary violence, or immature character, which, I thought, was another way the author made the story interesting and simple enough to follow. The novel's conclusion was also excellent; it contained all the elements of a good story, including a finale with just the right amount of tension to keep you eagerly anticipating the next installment.

I had fun reading this book, and I enjoyed it from the beginning to the end. I am rating this book, We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies, 5 out of 5 stars because it was well organized and engaging to read. There were no grammatical errors or mistakes in it. Therefore, it was exceptionally well edited.

I recommend this book for people who enjoy the fantasy genre.
