I love stories where deep secrets unfold. I also love travel stories. Besides, Hillary for a female character is quite amazing and hilarious. Nice review. Congratulations on winning BOTD.

Wow, I enjoy reading stories that involve people having secrets only for them to be revealed to the public. We all have secrets and books such as this one teaches me the right way to react to similar situations. I'll love to try it out.

Usually I tend to read series accordingly. But as this is one is a standalone and the story seems very compelling and engaging I guess I'll start with this one. The themes of mystery, family, portrayal of Clair's child character and the Irish setting all seem very interesting. Congrats on BOTD!

The book's plot moves at a steady pace, keeping the reader engaged throughout the story. The characters are well-developed, and the author skillfully propels the plot through them. The reviewer particularly appreciates the realistic portrayal of Hillary's daughter, Claire, and how the author balances her childish enthusiasm with age-appropriate behaviors. The attention to detail regarding traveling to a different country with a child adds an extra layer of authenticity to the story.

From the sample I read of the book, I can see what you mean by the characters being relatable to the readers. The lives of the two families seem so normal and everyday, with financial struggles, accomplishments, being excited for your paycheck, etc. At some point, almost everyone has been there, plus there aren't many people who can't appreciate the smell of a fresh pot of coffee in the morning. Thank you for the review :)

This sounds like a great book. Even though you say it's a stand-alone, I do love reading book series, so I'm going to start with the first one House of Cuts and then House of Dads before getting to this one. I'm not a fan of precocious children, so I hope the Claire character doesn't annoy me too much hehe.

Even though it's a stand-alone book, I would prefer to read the whole series chronologically to grasp the back story and all the details. I love the country of Ireland and would love to learn more about it. Hillary seems like an interesting character, and I look forward to learning more about her. Terrific book review!

It all started from a planned family vacation, and now it's all about discovered long-time family secrets! I don't often read sequels in a series, but I'll definitely check this out. The child's realistic portrayal adds to the authentic touch in the story. Congratulations on the BOTD.

What an excellent review! You perfectly described the story without giving away too much. I also read and enjoyed this book. Like you, I was impressed by the author's ability to create well-developed characters. The little details included about Claire were spot on. Indeed, her behavior reflected the typical actions of a 7-year-old child. Irish history also plays a significant role in the plot. This is a perfect choice for St. Patrick's Day!

Getting to know the history of your family is very important, just as Intended by Hillary. This is because every family has a unique way of conducting its activities.
