I think: The author's skillful use of suspenseful scenes, character development, and incorporation of medical information and current events helped to create an engaging and authentic mystery novel. The relationships between the characters, their different skill sets, and the camaraderie between them added an enjoyable dimension to the story. Additionally, the incorporation of current events added realism and depth to the plot.

It has been a long time since I last read a good mystery novel. I usually enjoy entering the world of an entire book series and discovering the hidden details that captivate the reader more and more with each book. While reading the review, I started worrying that it might be difficult to keep track of all the various characters, especially since this would be the first novel in the series I would pick up. As a doctor myself, it is always interesting to read a book that contains medical information. If done well, I enjoy the extra information. However, if the medical information is not correct, I tend to get very frustrated. Fortunately, since the author has a background in medicine, I am sure I will have no issues with the medical content in this particular novel. I am also intrigued by the introduction of the COVID struggles we’ve all been dealing with. I rarely find this particular aspect of our reality mentioned in any form of media, and I honestly applaud the decision.

A fast paced detective story book "Contrived" by E.W. Johnson, which follows Dr. Nolan, who becomes suspicious when the body of his patient fails to surface from an unexpected tragedy. This book appears entertaining to me.

I read the sample of this book, and I was already hooked. Dr. Nolan is definitely a unique hero: doctor by day and crime-solver by night. I wonder what mystery he's gotten himself into now. I'll definitely read this book.
