I cannot understand why or how twelve year old girls would find and bury a dead baby. Why keep that a secret and how does that relate to other murders in the small town? Reading "Dead Reckoning" by Lea O'Harra would answer those questions, I imagine.

I love reading mystery, horror and crime thrillers so this one is right up my alley. I’m looking forward to digging into this one to find out how the mystery of the dead children will pan out and if Gilly and Sally will be the instruments in solving it. A troubled conscience is such a heavy burden to bear and I hope the two find peace. The place is very intriguing due to the dark and sinister atmosphere; can’t wait to read the book!

I adore mysteries and intrigues, but due to the horror element in this one, I won't be reading it. That is too much for me to bear.

Although I am not a fan of horror, keeping a dead baby is not something you see every day. I think this would be a fascinating read. Congratulations on BOTD.

This is a fictional story about hate and how it manifests. Congratulations BOTD!

I am definitely not a fan of horror-themed books. While others might find this plot fascinating and be excited to see how the mysteries surrounding the murders and Gilly is solved, I'd pass on this. An amazing review regardless!

Today's BOTD is definitely not the one for me, as it sounds a bit too creepy. However, readers who don't mind mixing elements of the horror genre with their mystery and suspense will want to swoop this one up! Thanks so much for your review! :-)

I like mystery and thriller but not so much horror and suspense as this seem to be. While the storyline seems interesting, it is somewhat disturbing for me so I’ll pass on this one.

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting crime/thriller story following Gully, a woman who as a child found and buried a dead body near a tree by her house. The body also resulted in the death of two others. Twenty-six years later, Gully and her soon to be ex-husband travel back to her hometown, but crime seems to follow her back home and with old hatreds and new investigations and suspicions, Gully's trip might be more eventful than originally planned. It might be worth a second look. Well done.

Oh my goodness this crime/horror thriller seems to have everything. Dead babies found in woods and kept and following details from an old diary. I can't wait to read this book. Thank you so much for the excellent review 👌👍

I am an avid fan of lovely crime/horror thriller, and the book “Dead Reckoning” by Lea O'Harra provides me some kind of satisfaction. Moreover, I am aware that hate and crime are prominent themes in this book, however, this won’t stop me from reading the book. Congrats on BOTD!

I am fascinated by the reason why young Gilly and young Sally decided to keep a dead baby they found in the woods.
I congratulate the author for Book of the Day!

"Dead Reckoning" by Lea O'Hara is a mystery thriller that takes place in Bryon, Indiana and involves a murdered baby that was found in the woods and two young teen girls found it and buried it in Gilly's yard 26 years ago. Gilly traveled back to her home town with her husband Toshi and their strained relationship ultimately ended in a divorce. The book is described in the official review as a crime/horror thriller and Gilly had received hate mail, her life was threatened and the town never forgave her. The child's death led to two other children being murdered. The old cliche that time heals all wounds did not apply to this case and Mr. Maloney and Tim never forgave the girls. I would describe this as a cold case that never really got cold. If you love murder mysteries, then this is a book for you to read. I am adding it to my To-Read shelf since I want to find out who killed the child and if the perp also killed the other two children. When I was a young boy there was a terrible murder of three young boys that took close to 50 years to solve so this book intrigued me. Very good review.
