Review of In It Together (2nd Edition Hardcover from B&N)
In It Together by Eckhart Aurelius Huges is a philosophical book about finding your true self. He states that there are two yous. He defines the "real you" as your spirit in the past, present, and future versus your body. He starts the book with an opening question that starts you thinking right from the start.
The author gives you eleven suggestions for inner peace and spiritual freedom. He instructs you to let go and have an open mind. Take a deep breath and start by being honest with your true self. Let go of any resentment or unforgiveness towards your past self. He suggests that you let go of possessiveness. People and things will not be a permanent fixture in your life. Inner peace is not easy to accomplish, but when you finally achieve it, things are the best where you are and not in someone else's backyard. He states that you should love unconditionally both yourself and everybody else around you.
Although I am not a philosopher or into philosophy, the book made me think about my life and how I perceive things. I didn't understand it much or like it at the first reading of the book. Reading the book a second and third time made me finally understand what the author was trying to convey to the readers, and I now see the book differently. It would be fantastic if you could love everything and everybody and possess the art of forgiveness. Let go of any possessiveness that we might have. It would be a wonderful world, and we would all have beautiful lives. It would be nice if we all had spiritual freedom and self-discipline. The self-discipline part is a hard one. I know, at least for me, it is.
I give In It Together 5 out of 5 stars because it lets you see the world and people in it differently. What I liked about the book is that the author asks the reader questions; if you answer them honestly, it's like a light goes on in your head. What I did not like about the book is that the world has no evil. I had a problem with this point and still do. The book appears professionally edited, as I found no grammatical errors.
I recommend this book if you like self-help books, want to improve yourself, find inner peace, or just enjoy a book that gets you thinking. I also recommend this book if you like philosophical books that excite you to debate specific issues.
