This is a romantic novel, a captivating one. Stephen had quite a rough childhood and now grown up he fell in love with Julie. I would love to explore their love. Did Stephen take after his father? Thanks for your review. Congrats on being the BOTD.

It is a typical story of a child brought up in an abusive and mistreating family, however there are not many stories that would have that same character with a strong will power. The fact that he decided to forgo his past and start another life might the best decision of his life. Although, I think that the biggest role in changing him for the better will be of his wife's, Julie. It would be interesting to read how these two nurture their relationship while also improving themselves. With some pinch of salt, you laid well the review while also leaving a great suspence. Definitely a book to check out.

I found the treatment of Stephen by his family unfair. I hope he doesn't tow the way of his father. Congratulations on being the Book of The Day.

I hope Stephen will prove all his haters wrong and show that he is a good person. At least, he seems like a good person who will do the right thing in any situation. I like the storyline of this book.

ImageI do not understand why Stephen was called a killer because his mother passed while giving birth to him, even by his closest family. Nice review though!

Congrats on BOTD!
Stephen's bravery in choosing to lead a decent life rather than follow in his father's footsteps is admirable. It would be fascinating to find out more about his union with Julie and the murder accusation against him.

I'd like to know whether Stephen took after his drunken father or not. I believe children are shaped by their chdhood. There is a high chance of them turning out like their parents unconsciously. Can't wait to read it. Congrats on BOTD.

I don't know whether Stephen marrying Julie that early is the right thing to do. However, I'm eager to find out. Beautiful work.

Interesting review. Stephen must have been a loner from birth. No friends no good connection with family members. I doubt he will be able to lead a successful family life. He didn't have any role model around. I wonder what will become of his pent up emotions now that he's married. I hope he doesn't lash it all out on his poor bride. I am intrigued. I am bound to read this book. I'm even adding to my shelf right away.

A fascinating tale about Stephen, who decided not to become a drinker like his father, may be found in Cynthia Hilston's "The Rock at the Bottom." Stephen is a wonderful role model who can teach us a lot. I am inspired by his bravery in choosing to live morally and defy his father's example. Congrats on the BOTD.

I enjoyed the dialect used by the depression-era working guys. The description calls the book a romance, I think idiom is typical in that genre. The reviewer made the characters seem more high-toned than the feeling I got from reading the first two chapters. I am not sure if I will read it or not.

Regardless of the fact that I don't have an idea on how the story ended, but I must commend Stephen for taking a decision as a young child not to follow the path of his father. It must have really hard for Stephen. I will love to read this book. Great review. Congratulations on BOTD.

I like it when people make their own decision to be different from what their parent is. It shows high level of confidence and maturity. I would love to read this book to know if Stephen succeeded with is plans. Congrats on BOTD.
